Language Arts:
This is our last letter week! We have completed the alphabet. We will learn about and practice Z. We will discover Z words and learn the Z sound. We will continue to read books, and work with our new sight words (please, so). We love writing in our journals using correct spelling for sight words and inventive spelling for higher words. We write upper and lower case letters and punctuation. Each week we continue our literacy center rotations, centers and so much more. We are doing our Read-a-ton for the month of March (Please continue to write down the books your student is reading- reading log in homework folder. We are keeping tract in the classroom on how they are doing and it has been fun to see how the students are reading at home! The hats are filling up. Keep reading! Keep turning in the reading logs.)
Math: This week we start adding. We will learn about the addition sign and equal sign. The students will count with pictures and then with simple numbers to begin addition. We will also count by 1s, 2s, 5s, and10s to 100 aloud as well as continue to count our days of school. There will be an emphasis on recognizing numbers 1-30 (out of order). The numbers will be written and the student will identify them. Then the number will be said or counted and the student will have to write the number.
Sharing: Every Friday.
Monday, March 31st: Character Trait Chapel, 2:25-2:55
School library books are due every Wednesday morning.
Sight Words: I hope you are practicing your sight words every day!
