MUSIC LESSON: WEEK ONE
For our first week of music we introduced ourselves and the students (grades 2nd-5th) filled out a 'Get To Know You' music sheet about their talents and interests in various forms of music. They also had a refresher in classroom rules, Music Positions, and 'Do Re Mi'.
For our K-1 classes we learned about 'Do Re Mi' and the positions we use in music to prepare ourselves for each activity. Ask your student about the following:
Position 1 (sit however you'd like in your chair)
Position 2 (sit straight at the edge of your chair with your feet on the ground)
Position 3 (stand up straight and quiet)
Position 4 (Salute while standing up)
Position 5 (Super-hero pose while standing)
Position 6 (raccoon-eyes and the words "I see what you're saying"
Position 7 (big shrug with an accompanying sound for when we're confused)

We also began learning (or remembering) the final stanza of the Doxology by Bishop Thomas Ken, which is the hymn we sing each week to start our music time off right. Below are the words to the Doxology, if you'd like to learn it too!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen
