Happy Columbus Day and week 8!

8th Weekly Update: October 13-16
NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY! teacher inservice. NO CROSSWALK.

Language Arts:

We will be focusing on the letter Ii this week. We will be learning the sound, words that begin the letter, how to write the letter and so much more. Our sight words this week are to, and red. We will spell them, talk about them, use them in our writing, reading, and get more and more familiar with those words.

Math:

We will be finishing our unit on patterns. The students have been so creative with their patterns and ability to identify patterns. We will be taking our chapter 2 test this week.

Bible:

We will be studying Abraham and Isaac. Our weekly memory verse is Eph 4:32a

Social Studies/ Science:

We will be learning “what is a friend?” The students will be talking about who makes up their “world”.  We will be learning a little about Christopher Columbus and his exploration with his three ships. There were three ships that he sailed with the Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria. If your student tells me which ship was the lead ship they can earn a free homework pass. Hint: it is the ship with two words in the name. In science we be looking at different symbols and their meanings as well as learning about “work”. Who works? How do they do their job?
