Language Arts:
We will be learning “all about me!” This is a great way for us to get to know one another as a class, as individuals and so much more. We will be focusing on the letter Mm this week. We will be learning the sound, words that begin the the letter, how to write the letter and so much more. Our sight words this week are we, and it. We will spell them, talk about them, use them in our writing, reading, and get more and more familiar with those words.
Math:
We will be sorting and classifying. We will be using all sorts of math manipulatives and getting comfortable with counting and sorting. We will be using math vocabulary of top, middle, bottom, in, front, behind, over, under, on and classifying numbers 1-6 as well as numbers 7-10.
Bible:
We will be studing how God cares of His creation. Our weekly memory verse is Genesis 1:1. We will be memorizing that verse as we learn how God created the world and everything in it. We will specifically be looking at the seven days of creation and what happened each day and how God designed the world to allow His glory to shine.
Social Studies:
We will be learning how to start school smartly. This includes the rules in the classroom, playground, at pull out classes, as well as all over our school. We will talk about respect and how we respect teachers, ourselves and our classmates. What kind of tools we use and when and how to work quietly and well in class.
Science:
This week we will start discussing the earth and what it contains. We will also be learning about daytime and nighttime.
Homework:
We are starting our weekly regular homework.
Please check the folder to see what stays at school and what returns to school. The folders go home each and every night except for the weekend. Look for the homework log sheet which will indicate what the homework is and then initial that your student has completed the assignment.
