Construction is STARTING! note from Mrs. Imel our Principal

Dear TLCS Staff and Families,

We are entering a very exciting time in the life of our school and our church. The groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday was a great kickoff for the next 18 month adventure. I just want to give you a few details about the impact on the school's facility use before fences are put up and trucks arrive. Although the information I give you today may change tomorrow, this is what I know at this point.

I'm sure you've noticed that the lunch tables have been moved. This will be our new eating area unless it rains - at least, that's our hope. The entire blacktop area between CEC and the playground will be unavailable to us. This will be a major staging area for the building construction crew. We will use the parking lots with the handball walls for our blacktop area. We'll still have the field and the playground available.

The next two weeks are about staging. In fact, fencing the construction area will start tomorrow morning at 7am. Families who use morning Cross Walk, please be prepared to park in the main lot and walk to the gym area. While the entire construction site will be fenced in only parts of the fencing will be draped so there will be plenty of viewing points to see what's going on. The delivery of some trailers is set for Friday. Other steps include delivery of supplies that will be used on a daily basis, changing walkways, and closing off the kindergarten playground for the construction phase.

After the staging is completed the site will be prepped for building beginning with the grading of the land. This will involve lots of big tractors and truck loads of dirt being hauled from point A (the site) to point B (the far end of the field as we prepare to transform the field into something more suitable for soccer and, of course, flag football!)

Each phase - is just a phase! Lord willing, this process will keep going forward. Some of the phases of building will take a week, some will take a month, but none of them will last through the whole process. if a particular phase is loud and/or dusty, or seems to shake the whole campus take heart - it's just a phase and we'll be on to the next phase soon enough.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school office and we'll work diligently to get you answers.

As always, thank you for your support of TLCS!

Meg Imel
