Language Arts: We will be focusing on the letter G, the sound and the words that begin with the letter, read many books, work on and with our sight words especially our new words: he, away, new. It is important to practice spelling them every day complete with writing upper and lower case letters. The students are really exciting about their new journals and writing about things we are passionate about. As per norm we will continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!
Math: We will celebrate our 100th day of Kindergarten on Tuesday, February 4th!! Our math focus this week is on the 100 chart. How to read it, how to write in the numbers, where to find the numbers, how many numbers make up a row or column. We count by 1s, 5s, and10s to 100! We are beginning to look at how we count by 2s and what the pattern is. We will continue to work on calendar skills and weather.
Bible: This week we will learn about Daniel and His Friends. We will read the Bible, sing songs, review our last few weekly verses, and pray together every day. Duet 31:6 is a perfect verse for Daniel and how he overcame his fears because he know that God was with him and would always protect him. We serve and amazing God!
Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Valentine’s Day and Community. We will also begin our Physical Science unit with plenty of hands-on activities (matter, movement, magnets, sink or float, fun!!). We will continue to do our team jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!
Sharing: We have a sharing time every Friday.

Valentine's Day.
We will be making mailboxes in class but we need materials and supplies to decorate with! If you have stickers, glitter, etc. please bring in to share.
Valentines. You can handmade them or buy them from the store; either way please make sure that you bring in one for each student in the class (your favorite teachers love valentines too!). I can include a class list in your student's homework folder this week. Candy can be attached to the valentine (none of the candy will be allowed to be eaten in class but taken home to ask for parent permission first).
We will be having a class party. Please ask Tara Forrest if you can assist her in planning or participating that day.
