Last week of the 1st quarter

Miss Rickabaugh’s 4th grade
Weekly News
October 17-21

This is the last week of the 1st quarter.

Language Arts: We are reading a story called “Mighty Jackie”. The focus is on biographies and narratives as the class decodes looking for the writer’s purpose.
Students are working on their own AR books this week for Book Club. Please log onto AR and check to see if your student is meeting their personal goal.

Math: The conclusion of Chapter 3 is this week. The chapter outlines multiplication and division.  Students need to always SHOW THEIR WORK!

Bible: Daily, we do a devotional, take prayer requests, and pray.
We are in the third week of studying Acts.
This week’s Memory verse:
 Ephesians 6:4-5
“Fathers, do no exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Slaves, obey you earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.”

History/Social Studies: We are in Unit 2: Early People in California. The lessons this week describe how the early Europeans came to California and how the Spanish changed how the Indians lived in California.

Science: We are in the second unit: describing matter. What is the definition of matter?
