Music Class

MUSIC LESSON: WEEK 2
In our second week of music class we learned about the famous classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach. A sheet of info about Bach's life went home with your student. We listened to one of his most famous pieces, Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor (which reminded most of us that it's often used during Halloween for spooky effects even though it was written over 300 years ago!).
We continued learning about Solfege (Do-Re-Mi) and use the song Do-Re-Mi fromThe Sound of Music to learn the order.
We began learning the hymn Come Thou Fount and we talked about what an Ebeneezer Stone was and the old-fashioned language used throughout the hymn.
For the younger grades we are still learning our music positions listed below:
Position 1 (sit however you'd like in your chair)Position 2 (sit straight at the edge of your chair with your feet on the ground)Position 3 (stand up straight and quiet)Position 4 (Salute while standing up)Position 5 (Super-hero pose while standing)Position 6 (raccoon-eyes and the words "I see what you're saying"Position 7 (big shrug with an accompanying sound for when we're confused)
We continued learning (or remembering) the final stanza of the Doxology by Bishop Thomas Ken, which is the hymn we sing each week to start our music time off right.
