May 12-16th

Rickabaugh’s Kindergarten class
May 12-16th

Hope you all had an amazing Mother’s Day weekend.

Language Arts: It is “oo” week. We will learn what those letters sound like when they walk together, find works that use those letters and much more. We continue to read many books as a class, in small groups, in pairs, and individually. Our reading groups are changing shape as our readers are becoming more confident! Our new sight words are: under, into, black. We will work with those words specifically this week but continue as always to use all of our previous sight words. The students will write in our journals, continue our literacy center rotations, and more daily!

Math: This week we will be subtraction, subtraction and more subtraction! The students will continue to cross out and eliminate the pictures as we find out the difference between addition and subtraction. We will count by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s to 100. We will also practice writing numbers 1-30. In preparing for first grade we will be working on identifying numbers 1-100 out of order.

Bible: This week’s Bible story is called Paul- the first missionary. We will sing, recite, discuss, Acts 16:31b, and pray together every day.

Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are conservation, recycling, Earth Day, loud and soft sounds, Cinco de Mayo, Santa Cruz timeline and community, Mother's Day/Father's Day, friendship and oceans. We will continue to do our team jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!
